I Can Explain is another book in the Awkward Love series by Missy Johnson. These are standalone books, so there isn’t a need to read the others in the series first. I hadn’t read the first book and had no trouble following this great little romance.
Missy (Author) has a great way of making you feel ever emotion of the characters. This isn’t my first Missy book rodeo and I wasn’t disappointed at all. I Can Explain tells the story of Chase and Alana and what a funny book this is. I don’t really want to go too much into the story has I think the synopsis tells you a fairly big chunk. I will say I Can Explain is a fun romance with great characters that really made me chuckle out loud at times.
Alana was spunky and fun. I loved how she spoke her mind with her office friend. She’s intelligent and independent, trying to find her way to the job she wants and is working hard. It’s just a shame that Chase isn’t paying attention… Until he does. Chase is hot, he’s cocky and I loved how he pushes Alana. Especially towards her own goals. The story has a good pace, in fact the action gets going from the start. The personal trainer had me in stitches at the beginning. You kind of think to yourself, ‘Could this really happen?’ but in honesty I bet it has!
I Can Explain has a sweet happy ever after, like you would expect from a romantic contemporary book. I wasn’t disappointed at all. This wasn’t my favourite book by Missy, Wicked Innocence grabs that title but it is a completely different genre really (New Adult with a hint of darkness). I do love a contemporary romance and I Can Explain was good, but I do prefer some angst and there wasn’t enough of that for me.
To conclude, I Can Explain deserves its 3.5 stars. For those who love a contemporary romance with a sweet HEA then I highly recommend this book. At presents is available on Kindle Unlimited, so it s a free read if you subscribe to the service.
Not how I expected to start my Saturday morning.
I guess I should’ve thought harder about going home with my sexy new gym instructor, especially since I had no idea the guy was married. When he pushed me out onto the balcony, five seconds before his wife walked through the door, I jumped one apartment over because I thought it would be less embarrassing for a stranger to find me than his wife.
That was a smart move.
So here I am, wearing next to nothing and freezing my ass off, standing outside the living room window of my young, sexy, and very intimidating boss, Chase Winston.
I have two choices: I sit here and try to think of another way out of this and risk dying of hypothermia. Or I can suck it up and knock on that window. After a long, internal argument with myself, I choose
Here goes nothing…
