I thought he'd always be mine,
even when I was forced to say goodbye.

We were never meant to let go,
but it happened anyway.
Too bad I didn’t know someone was waiting to take my place, or I would've held on a lot tighter.

Two years later, we were exactly where we'd always planned to be.
I'd kept my promise.
He'd forgotten all about his.
Not only had he moved on, but the person he'd moved on with was my best friend, leaving me to begin college with a broken heart.

I guess this is the part where I’m supposed to tell you some other guy stepped in, repaired my shattered pieces, and made me smile again.

This isn't that kind of story.

My heart might have been broken,
but it refused to fall out of love.

WARNING: this book contains cheating.

Suddenly Forbidden is the first book in the Gray Springs University series by Ella Fields. This was also the first book I’d ever read by the author, but will not be my last. I found this gem on my Kindle Unlimited selection, as a free read I could not complain but would have happily paid for it too as its well worth the pennies if you aren’t a subscriber.

I love university set books with some romance and of course drama too, Suddenly Forbidden touches all those bases but also has some great characters and a story I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I will say yes, this book involved cheating and I know many avoid books like that. It isn’t a ‘matrimonial’ cheating though and in some ways although I don’t condone cheating I felt it worked in this book. The story is set mostly in the present, although there are some chapters in the past where we really get the see the dynamics of the characters and how they fell in love. I loved Daisy and Quinn in this book but also loved the supporting characters too. I felt the story had a beautiful flow, it kept me interested and left me rooting for the characters too. Yes the ending of Suddenly Forbidden is a HEA (Which is probably the only spoiler I will give you) and a sickly sweet one too which I don’t love (I prefer realism), but it did make for the ‘right’ ending too.

I consumed Suddenly Forbidden over a day and thoroughly enjoyed the ride it took me on. Over all, if you are looking for a sweet new adult romance set in university then I recommend you give Suddenly Forbidden a shot. If you are completely anti/closed to cheating then I would pass on it, although feel you would be missing out too. Available on Kindle Unlimited if you are a subscriber its a free read and if you aren’t, I’d still recommend reading it. I look forward to seeing where Bittersweet Always takes us shortly (The second book in the series). 4 stars, I enjoyed this one.
